Every so often I’ll run into one of my colleagues from college, and catch up. Often they’ll tell me their going to get back into making websites. This fills me will a bunch of different emotions!
On one hand, that’s great. The Internet is awesome. On the other hand, the college course we took 10 years ago has zero relevance on the Internet today, and they have a TON of work ahead of them!
I’ve been writing a lot lately, and feel inspired to write a guide for people getting back into web, and for n00bs just getting into it for the first time. I’m planning on making this an ebook that can either be read in the browser, or downloaded in a few of the popular formats that the kids use nowadays.
That should keep me busy for a while ;)
This is an excellent idea, Arley.
I know when I first “dabbled” in web design (back in historical 1997) the resources were slim to none and, like today, the coursework was 10 years behind. What I know today is largely self taught because of the reality of the educational system.
I have some friends that would benefit from reading something like this, especially during times of doubt. Can’t wait. :)
Great idea. My code skills are as outdated as my yahoo.com email handle. I feel like this is exactly what I have been looking for but just can’t find. Now get writing… I have websites to build!!!
