I had a terribly realization recently: my biggest hobby for the last couple years has been “making websites”. Sadly, that’s also what I do for a living.
The biggest pitfall in having your career as a hobby is becoming a bit shallow. This would happen: “Arley! What’s new?” After being asked this I would do a quick analysis of the asker: Do they care about the Internet? No? “Nothing is new.” I want a bit more breadth than that.
I realized it’s high time I rekindle an interest in my old hobby: playing music. I recently traded an old ignored Epiphone Les Paul for a beat up Fender Jazz. It’s awesome. Last weekend I completely stripped it down, cleaned and rebuilt it (pics!).
Get a hobby.

Haha, I laughed so hard at:
Do they care about the Internet? No? “Nothing is new.”
Unfortunately, I fall into that trap all the time. Congrats on getting back into music!
Just wait until you have kids.
Unless your wife has the same hobby(ies) or is willing to accept that you are taking time out for it/them, then you can do your hobby(ies) as is.
Other than that, kiss your hobbies good bye.
Thank God my wife accepts, I would’ve gone crazy many years ago.
I have a kid (2yo). She plays bass with me now, it’s great!
